Duxford Update October 2020

5th October 2020

We fully expect, regardless of how far it goes, for the hotel to gain permission and be built especially as the objector’s ulterior motive is widely recognised.

  • Propiteer has received notification that our hotel plans have to go back to the planning committee for reconsideration. This is an unprecedented case which, even with their decades of experience, not one of the development team have experienced a situation like this before. The reason given was that the council had made a clerical error and omitted an accepted objector from the list of people able to speak. The objector raised a legal challenge against the decision citing procedural error and an alleged conflict with South Cambridgeshire planning policies.
  • The planning officers remain supportive of the application and consequently they have deferred the application being heard until they have collated evidence and legal opinions to sufficiently answer the points.
  • Propiteer and the Imperial War Museum have provided all necessary supporting information requested by the planning officer and now await a date when the application will be heard at Committee. We are informed that due to Covid-19 this is likely to be December 2020 or January 2021. Given the original positive committee decision, and the continued support of the planning officer, we remain confident of a successful outcome when the application is heard.
  • We fully expect, regardless of how far it goes, for the hotel to gain permission and be built especially as the objector’s ulterior motive is widely recognised.
